Nice little campground convenient to Boone. It was about 20 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Blowing Rock and there were a couple of nice golf courses in the area. The park was quiet. A list of rules was given at check-in including no alcohol, no cussing, pick up after pets, etc. The place was clean and well maintained. We saw no problems with the water quality, though we do double-filter. The site was was easy to pull into and roomy. We had to put a couple layers of leveler blocks on one side. As a result, the owner noticed our bottom step was high off the ground and brought over a couple of cinder blocks for use to use. The only negative I could see was, because of the long term residents, there were many vehicles parked along the road in front of our pull-through and we backed out because it would have been too tight to pull forward.

We stayed here for a few months while our house was being finished. It is a low-end trailer park with mostly permanent residents and about ten pull-throughs near the road for overnighters. The website uses the word "pristine" but maintenance is sorely lacking. The only good thing I can say is the restrooms were nice. The laundry room was definitely not. The advertised Wi-Fi was no longer being maintained when we left and was not available. The trees in the park are poorly positioned, not kept trimmed back and are difficult for big rigs to clear. Pets are allowed but, in general residents do not pick up after their animals. As a quick stop with easy on-and-off the interstate it may be passable but if you're looking for a nice place to base for a vacation, go to the nearby Lakewood RV Resort instead.

This park has been completely renovated, though some items are not yet completed. We stayed here for 11 days because it is located so close to Anna Maria Island, the intracoastal waterway and the beaches. Each brick paved site was level and quite roomy; they were separated by narrow mulched beds of small shrubs. Our site was on the outer edge of the park which meant we were about 50 feet from Cortez Road which is quite busy during the day. Sites on the opposite side of the park are quieter and alongside a canal with individual boat docks. There is a new clubhouse with activities such as bingo, nightly movies, socials, and etc. The new pool was clean and heated. Pets are welcome but the only place they can do their business is on the narrow perimeter where there is some spotty grass. Pet clean-up stations are provided. The sites are all for sale. Owners will have the option to rent out their sites to others; as I understand it, reservations can still be made through the Holiday Cove office as we did. This park will merit a higher rating when it is fully complete. Our main complaint was that the advertised wi-fi, so important to us when we're on the road for long trips like this, was not working during our entire stay. There was a single ethernet connection available in the clubhouse with campers often waiting in line to use it. Management received numerous complaints while we were there and said they were working to get the wi-fi in service. Also not as advertised was the laundry room; it was still an empty building with workmen in it daily. We used a laundromat that was directly across the street.

We used this park twice on a trip to and from Florida for its easy access to I-95. It is 2.5 miles off the interstate. We had difficulty getting cell phone signals; the wireless internet and cable were excellent. We were escorted to our sites. The first night we were near the rear of the campground where it was very quiet. The pull-through site was level dirt/sand and shaded. On our return trip we had a pull-through gravel site, nearer the front, which was level and shaded. Some road noise even though the park is bounded by a privacy fence. On our second visit there were distant booming noises from the adjacent Ft. Stewart Military Reservation all evening and into the next morning.

A beautiful park on the Spruce Run Reservoir. The condition of the restrooms were the main reason I could not rate the park as a 10. The facilities are quite worn and, although they were cleaned daily, weekend use was overwhelming and by Saturday night things were pretty grungy. There were 5 stalls and 3 showers (one of each wheelchair accessible)in each of the two bathroom buildings, but one of the buildings had only one shower in use, and one of the men's showers ran cold water only. Weekdays the campground was almost empty. It is primarily a popular weekend place for extended families who are tent-camping; definitely great for kids with the lake, a beach, boat rentals and playgrounds. Our spot was tight for a 32' Fifth-wheel due to overhanging trees. (There is lots of space between sites.)If you have a rig this large the following sites will accommodate you: 7, 8, 9, 16, 17, 21, 24, 33, 39, 61, 67, 70. Note: The park day-use area allows pets, but the campground does not.

This park was well located for visiting Brevard, Asheville, and Lake Lure, with easy access just off I-26. The park was quiet, clean and well-maintained as well as dog-friendly. The upper half consists of park models for over-55 residents and was the nicest such place we've seen. The lower half is a big-rig friendly campground with plenty of room. A small creek borders the wooded back boundary of the campground and we saw a bobcat while walking along it. (The levee mentioned previously is complete.) We were also able to fill our propane tank here. There is a large, heated pool which was not yet open in early May.

We stayed here 9 nights in a 32' fifth-wheel and were given a back-in site overlooking the new pool. The pool was heated, very clean, and still open in mid-Oct. (The "lake" was a large pond.) The park location was well-placed just a few minutes from I-26, but off the main roads in a quiet location. Across the street is a kennel, convenient for boarding (dogs only) if you're out on a day-long excursion. The sites were gravel, level, wide-enough to accommodate the slide-outs, and well-maintained with a picnic table and fire-ring. Parked tow vehicles needed to be tucked rather snugly into the space. Entry to the CG is gated and campers are given a keycard. We had no problem accessing the free wi-fi service except late at night when we guessed it was probably turned off. A friend who came in for lunch with us needed to check in at the office and pay a $2 visitor fee as explained on their website. We will camp here again.

Very pleasant state park about 10 miles off I-95. We stayed in the Northeast loop (full hookups, pets allowed); some trees, but other loops were really in the woods and heavily shaded. Sites were paved, some more level/longer than others. Our pull-through site (#19) had a rather tight radius and took a little jockeying to situate it so we could open the slides on our 32' fifth-wheel. We had to pull uphill and partly over the grass to exit. However, we saw larger rigs than ours there; bigger motorhomes were generally in the longer, more level back-in sites. Site 23 looked like the roomiest pull-through and sites 6, 10, 11, 14, 20, 26 and 30 were the longest/most level back-ins. There was a nice assortment of trails in the park. The nearby town of North East has a Food Lion, Wal-mart, Flying J, marine supply stores and some great restaurants.

We stayed in Camp Burson, which is on the main park road just before you reach the park entrance. Of 100 sites, 16 are hard-surface pull-throughs and another 30 are back-in onto gravel; the rest are grass. 30 amp service, water and sewer are available. Camping with your pet will cost an additional $3 per night. There is a small laundry room (3 washers and dryers), and the bathrooms are small and basic (2 stalls, 1 shower), but clean and well-supplied. Access to trails around the lake are at the spillway at one end of the campground. All sites were well-shaded and had a picnic table and fire-ring. Entry for swimming in the park's lake is included; there is a very nice sand beach with lifeguards and bathhouses. The park's restaurant was very good both for regular dining and the Sunday buffet lunch. Rentals of bikes, canoes, paddle boats and kayaks are available in the park. Gas/Walmart/fast-food/groceries are just a couple of miles away in the small town of Marion.

We spent three relaxing nights here. They ask your size when you call for reservations and match spaces accordingly. We had no trouble backing in our 29' fifth-wheel. The campground hosts were helpful, assisting each rig into its space. They also recommended a great electrician who came out to our site that same evening to troubleshoot a faulty outlet. Can't see how two rigs could pass each other on the entrance road, but no traffic meant no problem. The sites were level, thickly gravelled and shaded. The campground is laid out along Stoney Creek along one center lane with a turnaround circle at its end. Walking across the small bridge at the other end puts you right in town. Use the directions to the campground that are posted on their website to avoid any attempt to drive your rig across this bridge. Bathrooms were immaculate, with two stalls and one shower in each.

We had a good experience with this campground. (We also had to sign the above-mentioned damage waiver.) Our hilltop site had lots of trees but was roomy. The pad needed some additional gravel; this became obvious during a rainy week when our site became muddy in spots. A picnic table and fire ring were provided. The employees we encountered were friendly. The store had a good selection of camp supplies and groceries, as well as a small snack bar.

On Lake Habeeb reservoir, off I-68 just east of Cumberland, this large campground is divided into 9 loops, only one having electric hook-ups and two allowing pets. All the sites were nicely wooded, on stone dust pads with gravel drives and with plenty of room between them. Each site had a picnic table, fire ring and lantern post. Each loop had a bathhouse. Ours was well-used, but clean and well-supplied, as well as handicap accessible. A trail runs through the campground (open to hikers and mountain bikers) and goes completely around the lake. Beaches, fishing and boat rentals are available in this scenic park, and there is a golf course and Lodge as well. We had dinner in the restaurant there one evening; it was pricey, but the lakeside dining room had a wall of windows with a wonderful view. The staff in the campground office and our loop’s resident campground host were helpful. The place was practically deserted after Labor Day.

The views from our hilltop site, the peaceful atmosphere, the clean pool and the spotless bathrooms and laundry room were all top-notch. We are repeat campers here and always enjoy our stay. Free wi-fi access is definitely a bonus. The only snag this time was a problem with our reservation. They showed us arriving on a date other than the one we had reserved. They did accommodate us anyway; however (considering some of the previous negative reviews on this subject) I would ask for an email confirmation next time, or maybe call again before our trip to confirm.

This was a nicely shaded campground (except for a dozen open sites near the front entrance) with a long, gravel pad, a picnic table and fire ring at each site. The tent sites are in their own secluded areas. I'd estimate about two-thirds of the sites with hookups were seasonals, but all were very nicely maintained. The campground had a pool, a separate wading pool, and plenty of other recreational activities for the kids. The place was full, with lots of children, on a summer weekend but emptied out quite a bit during the week. The restrooms were basic but clean. The office staff was friendly and efficient. The office had a fairly well stocked camp store, with a more limited grocery section. There was a nice snack bar selling both hot and cold breakfast and snack items, as well as ice cream. A worship service is held in the recreation hall on Sunday mornings. A security guard patrols the park during quiet hours, which were enforced. We noticed employees were always going around the park doing maintenance and cleaning up. Nicely located for the many activities available in the surrounding Laurel Highlands.

This was an excellent place for a two-night stop. Convenience to the highway meant there was some droning background noise from Rt. 37. The place was clean and well-maintained and the camp store well-stocked. The staff was friendly and assisted us in backing between two trees into our site. The "Stop Here to Register Line" is in front of spaces A1-A6; avoid them if you don't want a delay exiting your space when other rigs are arriving.
